Valin Enclave, historically, is a very superstitious clan. They followed many traditions now lost to time that were believed to keep them in favor with their ancestors and the spirits of nature - so when a terrible famine struck the valley, followed quickly by widespread sickness and death, the cats of Valin were terrified that they had somehow been so insolent that the spirits saw it fit to punish them so. This question was never truly answered during the tumultuous disbanding of the Enclave - or, if it ever was, it was known to very few.
The former Enclave cats didn't need much persuading to leave after all that had happened, especially with their leadership in shambles. No one saw it fit to continue this way of living, if the spirits couldn't protect them from this fate, and so they went their seperate ways, into the wilderness of the valley. Among the survivors was a Meie by the name of Canyonstone, and her 12 moon old kit, Earthpaw.
Earthpaw grew up watching the destruction of their home and family, and heard plenty of whispers about the spirits and their punishment - and even so, they have returned to their old home to try and rebuild what was lost - now, as Earthpad, the new Lerei of Valin Enclave.
